Welcome to another world in North Bend .... but it’s a real place with very real people and more to see and do than you can imagine, and all within a convenient drive from the bustling, high tech city of Seattle to the west.

The Awesome Landscape of North Bend

Who needs a television when you can sit on the porch, look out the window or walk around and see mountains like no other? Snoqualmie Falls is a short drive away from town. There is a herd of 300 or more elk living locally.

North Bend: Small Town Washington at its Best

People who choose to live in the Pacific Northwest do it intentionally. They may have suit-wearing jobs but they are at their best in jeans and boots, hiking boots and more casual gear. Seattle and the other metro areas are just a half hour’s commute from North Bend and the anticipation of returning to this place of quiet, relaxation and natural beauty is a benefit that few employers in other parts of the country can offer, money after all is not everything.

The city has an estimated year-round population of 6,739 according to recent census figures. This seems small to many visitors but this is a resort area and those who live here do it “deliberately” to quote Thoreau. They seek quiet communication with astounding natural surroundings, a place to breathe clean mountain air and see sights that amaze and change with every sunrise and sunset.

Who Lives in North Bend?

Lots of friendly, relaxed and level-headed people live here. Many of them commute a relatively short distance to jobs in Bellevue and Seattle. Much of the city’s in-town businesses tend to the tourism and travel clientele and this helps keep the relaxed and quiet atmosphere at its best. It offers the best of both worlds: lifestyle and income opportunities for just about every profession and trade you can imagine.

Making a Living in North Bend

The city has a business community that works with the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce. Incentives are available for businesses and entrepreneurs. The city is business-friendly and opportunities abound. Tourism in Washington State is a year-round multifaceted industry.

Hotels, B&B’s, restaurants, outdoor suppliers, guides, sporting goods stores for fishing gear, bicycle shops and the mechanics who fix and maintain bicycles, water sports businesses, all offer employment with the added benefit of spending time off at adventures in your own backyard. Larger cities are a reasonable commute for times when dress-up is on the list. Those who value their off-time hours will find their dream come true here; combining lifestyles and employment seem to be a benefit for residents in places like North Bend.

Why Move to North Bend?

Although it has served as a movie set (for Twin Peaks) North Bend is anything but that. It is a real community which has played its best card and put its assets to work. Visitors want to see real things, the buildings are real, the mountains and lakes are real and the people who greet you here are real too. Washington’s unique combinations of climates, coastal, mountain and open prairie, offer a year-round travel and tourism set of opportunities.

Jobs which support these businesses are numerous and increasing all the time. People who live and move here have a wide range of life experiences and skills and are creative in using them. They intentionally live here because of the lifestyle, the landscape and the daily opportunity to enjoy any combination of sights, sounds and energizing experiences. The pace here is slower and you can have the opportunity to see what life can be now instead of after retirement. North Bend is Washington at its best.
